MAXIMUM CITY --- Mumbai Lost & found

The first thing that attracted me towards this book was the cover page.
Just by looking at it I knew it is going to be a good book.
It is a must read for all Mumbai people , if you think that you know Mumbai then read this book you will know how little you know about Mumbai.
The writer has put in a lot of efforts in writing this book while doing his research work.

it is kind of an eye opener on issues like the 1993 riots, involvement of sanjay dutt in it, the way the riots took place, how blasts were planned ? how the gangsters work? how police works?
It must have required a lot of guts on his part to write things about Bal Thackrey and directly pinpointing him as the main person responsible for the riots.
One of the most interesting part is that of the life in slum.
Although I would say that he only wrote things which would attract people in reading about life in slum and mainly concentrated on how each one of them is hitting on someone else's wife,
sister,sister in law etc...
I would have been happier has he mentioned about how people stay connected to each other in slums, chawls, care for each other, celebrate in good times and mourn in bad times with each other.
I think he lacked there.
Story on vada-pav is also good.
Another interesting part is on the life of the bar girls, in this part I would say he really
put in more hardwork in reasearch on bar girls, I dont know why he had so much interest in it ,at times I found that he is dragging it a little too much.
In the end he also mentions about his school ,years spent there ,his friendship with director/producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. His association with him during the making of
Mission Kashmir.
That part again was not needed, I mean who is interested in knowing what you did in your school,
when you are writing the book on Mumbai .
I would say that he probably missed one very important thing about mumbai which is it's lifeline
that is the local trains.
He should have written something about the local trains, how people talk in trains ? what is the main point of their discussion ? The daily spats in train etc....
Although it is a good effort and he even succeeds in opening the eye's of the readers , but I would still say that it lacked a lot of things about Mumbai.
I would still recommend it to everyone who wants to know what has happend in Mumbai over
the years.
It will be kind of Mumbai revisited for you.
On a scale of 1 to 5 I would rate it a good 4.

THE KITE RUNNER

Marvellous, incredible these are the words that come to my mind about this book.
I have read so many books, and have been saying that I was so hooked to it that I couldn't put the book down till I finishd it.
But you will know what does getting really hooked to a book means once you start reading this book.

There had been hardly few books which made me think, evoke emotions but this book does that.
The first thing that convinces you is the relevance of the title with
the story, it truly cmplements the stroy .

Although the start is not that convincing but once an incident takes place in the main protagonist's life ,thereon there is not a single dull moment.

I must admit that nobody succeeds in carving human emotions on paper than Khaled Housseni.

He slowly creates the world of afganistan around you and that's the thing which makes you feel the emotions of the various protagonist , what they are going through.
The story has it's share of happy and emotional moments.

It starts from the post taliban takeover of a lovely and beautiful afghanistan where people love each other and are very happy and the drastic change in afghan once taliban takes over.

Its the story of a happy boy, his prince like life which changes after an incident for which only he is responsible, how he had to deal with the truth and guilt only he knows throughout his life.
The description of the post taliban takeover is really moving.

I can't stop raving about the book, so the best thing I can say is that you go and grab your hands on it and you will understand the difference between reading a book and feeling a book.
In all on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it 9.

THOOK

Ya, you read it correct . It should really have been named THOOK.
I really felt like spitting after the movie.
It was really a big bizzare, one of the biggest crap I have ever seen.
Throughout the movie and even after the end I didn't understand
what ramu wanted to express through the film.
There were only a couple of scenes which had the potential to make
u startled and its better if I dont talk about the potential to scare.

There were a couple of scenes I couldn't stop laughing at, including the scene where the child's
granny's hand enlarges by about 10 feet.
The only two things which were ok ,
1>The background score
2>The last 15 minutes where the actor(I don't know his name) who played Rashid in Sarkar is introduced into the story
I dont know how long Ramu will keep on wooing people on account of the
background score of his movies.
He concentrated more on trying to scare the people from the background score rather than the stroy because he knew there is nothing in the story.

Throughout the first half he tries to fool people in making the environment
scary and fails in it miserably.
The second half is even worse.
And it will be better if I dont talk about the actors.
The child actor Ahsaas does try to play the role of a child affected by
some black magic but fails to scare in even a single film, but I wont take the
credit away from her for even trying such role.
The only good performance is by the actor who plays the tantric and saves the child.

As far as rating is concerned it doesn't deserve more than 4 on 10.
watch it only if u dont have anything better to do.
It's a complete waste of money, waste of time.

STORY OF MUMBAI ROADS

Last evening i was on my way to station,I was thinking something and dint notice a truck coming from the front, u must be thinking that it must be something to do with rash driving or i escaped from an accident.
But nothing like that happend. There was such a big pothole in the middle of the road filled with rain water and no prizes for guessing what happend next .
The truck bumped into the pothole and even though i was on the footpath my whole shirt and jeans was ruined.
It was such a big pothole that we could easily have done fishing over there.
I dint have any other option than to get back home and change.
Now the point I want to make is every year the government pays so much money to contractors for making and maintaining roads, but I don't know how much money it spends to keep a check on them that whether the work done is satisfying or not?
How can a government which cant even keep its road in proper cndition can think of hosting an F1 race.
How can a CM talk of making mumbai Shanghai when the state doesnt have proper roads.
I dont think that he has ever visited shanghai.
Ferrari gifted a car to sachin, I dont know where does he uses that car, maybe in his house.
If we take a cab,it keeps on bumping so much dat you will be able to taste all the things that you have eaten throughout the day .
How can the government ask people to pay taxes when the people are not getting the basic facilities .
Every year before the rains the BMC says so much that they are well equipped and ready to tackle any problem. And every year the same thing happens.
I think bmc has decided that we dont give a damn to what happens, we are happy in filling our pockets.
And nowadays the BMC is planning so many skywalks as well as bridges over the sea.
My sincere advice to people is that please dont use them u don't know somewhere there will be a hole inbetween the bridge and the next thing u know is that either you have fallen through the hole on the road below the skywalk or in the mouth of some big fish.

It's adios again till I find something to write about.

jaane tu ya jaane na

I watched dis movie only bocz I cudnt find any person who dint like d movie.
The second reason was dat it was directed by the writer of movies like munnabhai mbbs and lagery raho...
so moving on i watchd d movie. The first half was ok, not too good nor bad.
After the film finished the only thing i could say was "what d f@#*" .
The film which was going good till the first half, was completly ruined in the later half.
It was so typical bollywood movie which the directors have been making for years. there have been so many movies with same storyline.
And the thing which completly pissd me off was why cant these sick directors make a simple movie with a girl and a boy remaining friend till the end why do they have to show dat marriage is the ultimate relationship between people of two opposite sex.
People in india can think of only one relationship between a girl and a boy i.e, marriage.
And dis movie kind of certifies the mentality.
The only positive thing in the movie was the music given by rehmaan.
I can gurantee that had aamir not been the producer of the movie , it couldnt have gathered so much attention.
It was only because of Aamir's aggressive marketing strategy dat the film succeded.
now something about the actors.
The only performance I liked was dat of naseeruddin shah.
ya, its true but he was d most convincing even though he had only 3-4 scenes.
Imraan khan, the only thing that goes in his favour is his cute looks, which girls are liking.
I mean where are the expressions? His face remains blank in so many scenes which fails to ignite the feel which the scene should have created.
Geneila dsouza, she should continue with her career in south.
RatnaPathak shah, she dint has anything to do thoroughout d movie, she must have signed d movie bcoz of naseeruddin.
Paresh rawal, plays the role of a shrewd inspector very well.
Lastly sohail and Arbaaz khan, they did their best in the couple of scenes they had.
If i was to rate the movie on a scale from 1 to 10.
I would give it 5 .
2 for rehmaan's music,3 for d somewhat ok first half.

so, its adios from me till i find something to write about.

SWADES

I have watched dis movie several times, but there are certain things in it which makes me watch it again & again.
Iit's 1 of d movie i haven't got bored of it even after watching more than 20 times.
I think there have been very few movies in the last decade in bollywood which had sense, and it's 1 of dem.
Apart from the great storyline, superclass direction, class act by shahrukh, the thing which draws me towards it the background score.
Every time while watching the later half i get goosebumps.
The scene in which a person(sharukh) who always drinks mineral water even in a remote village when buys a glass of water from a child selling water in glasses is really moving , u have to see the expressions on sharukh's face in that scene.
As always Rehmaan's music was great. The most important part of d music is dat in all d songs he maintains the flavour required in a song required for that scene.
The title song has to be my all time favourite, sung by rehmaan himself. I dont know why doesnt he sing more oftenly.
I dont know the person's name who played the flute in that song but hats off to him.
In all it's a must watch , but if u r looking for fun den dont watch it, u'll be disappointed.

If I was to rate it, I would give it 8 on 10.

It's adios till I find something to write about.
