KAMINEY

I have hardly updated my blog so early previously.
But a couple of songs from this move made me write about it.
The first one definately being "dhaan te naan", there is nothing great about the song but then the use of the tune "dhaan te naan" which almost all of us have used during childhood days at various occassions like when telling some story to our friends and I still remember it used to be the entry tune of the hero.
Vishal Bharadwaj has used that tune very nicely and the for the first time ever i thought that someone surpassed Sukhvinder Singh in a high pitch song and vishal dadlani succeded in it quite brilliantly.
Probably it's because of his rock music influences.
The other song that's making the round is "Pehli Bar Mohabbat" which is brialliantly sung by
Mohit chauhan. It definately will remind you of those beautiful moments with your partner.
There is a different kind of madness in his voice I dont know the exact word but probably it's called kashish, correct me if I am wrong.
It really has some really lovely lyrics listen to it carefully and I am sure you will love it.
The only problem with me in this case is that I have stopped listening to such love songs and even stopped watching love story based movies.
The other really nice song is the title song "Kaminey" which is a slow song but I was surprised to find that it is sung by Vishal Bharadwaj himself.
It's a nice slow song which some really interesting lyrics.
Something that I have noticed about the lyrics written by the vetren lyricst and writer Gulzar is that he seriously is writing some beautiful lyrics over the last few years, be it
"Slumdog Millionaire","omkara" or "Guru" .
Although many people knew him before "jai ho" also but it did shot him to the fame so late in his career.
Vishal Bharadwaj being the only few directors in bollywood who understands music and has an ear for it succeeds in creating an album with some really good songs.
The other songs are not as good but people in this country have strange taste so you might like the other songs also.

CHAANDAN ME

So....... updating the blog after a long time.
Hardly got some time to do anything as neices had come down in vacation.
Had a blast playing with them.
The youngest nephew(Gulgule), he really gave me some tough time .
Now they are gone I kinda miss them.
Another thing is that for the past couple of months I have really found it difficult to concentrate and I still am finding it difficult to handle few things in life.
I think the only way I will be able to divert my mind from all this is when I get a job when I wont have time to think about these things.
Now something which made me write about it, and that's Kailash KHer's new album "Chaandan me".
I was eagrly waiting for their third album and I must tell you that the wait was really worth it.
One thing that I really liked about their music is that over the years their music has really matured over the years.
Like their previous albums this again has very soft music(most of the songs).
Another thing that impresses you is the lyrics, although to understand the lyrics and meaning
people might find some difficulties but they do make a lot of sence(unlike today's songs).
I particularly liked the song 'BHEEG GAYA MERA MANN' , the title song is also good.
"Rang Rang Ma" did surprise me a bit bcoz it's the only song with some fast beats unlike other songs.
"Na Batati Tu" also comes as a surprise with it's fast beats.
The use of sitar in d song "Teri Yaad Me" alongwith its lyrics makes it standalone in the album.
"Tere Naina " also is very good again the lyrics are rally good.
"Ishq Ho Gaya" is good with its slow pace and some nice guitaring.
After a long time we have an album with all excellent songs.

DEV D ..... nope my new IPOD

yeah, I know the title sounds a bit confusing. But it's true.
I wanted to write something about DEV(ch*$#a)D but then i thought what's the point in writing about something which pissd me so much , rather write about something which is making me happy these days which is my iPod. Its a Shuffle 1 GB.Got it as a gift from brother.
But then I think writing aboou this crap movi will be the best remedy to decrease my frustration.
I was eagrly waiting for this movie to release and wanted to see it because I really like Anuraag Basu as a storyteller/director, but i dont know while watching the movie the scene where
Paro comes to Dev and tells him that her family members are thinking of her marriage and she expects him to talk to their families or whatever she thinks, and Dev tells her to leave.

At that moment I thought what a ch@#*ya fellow this man is, and then he proves it by getting drunk and unconscious in front of her in the marriage.

What pissd me off was I couldnt understand what he actually wanted?
And i dint feel like watching the movie thereafter.
I know most of the people liked the movie but then it's my view.
I dont feel like rating it , so i won't.
Now about my iPod, this truly has become my companion nowadays.
I was planning to buy a transcend MP3 player for some time now but I was really surprised when bro gifted it to me.
When i first saw that it's just 1GB i thought atleast it should have been 2GB.
but now after using it for almost a month now I feel that I really don't need more than this.

GHAJINI

Only the name of the film sounds diffenrent, there is nothing new to the story.
There has been so many films in the 90's with such storyline where the actor's girlfriend gets murdered by a villain and the only motive of the hero is to kill the villain.
It's kind of the same thing packaged in a different manner.
The thing that went in favour of the movie is that such story came after long time and then it's the magic of Aamir khan that he will make the same thing look different by doing it in a different manner.
Although it may sound strange but still i would say that it's the only hindi movie which is
adapted better than the original which is "MEMENTO".
IT's not that I dint like Memento but the way the story has been told in Ghajini convinced me more than Memento.
Talking about the music although the film dint really required songs with such storyline still
songs has been encorporated into it. But Rehmaan has done justice to them.
I dont know why a section of media are saying that lyrics by Prasoon Joshi is not that good, I dint find anything wrong with it.
Anothet thing is that Aamir khan carries the whole film throughout the movie alone ,there is nothing for Jiyah Khan to do and as for Aasin is concerned she lacked that extra bit to tickle the funny bone of audience.
But she looks good on screen.
They could have got some other actor to play the role of Ghajini, the actor looked totally unconvincing.
So, the film is about only 1 person.
Aamir is good in both his characters. He must be given credit for all the hardwork put in behind those bulging muscles.
I would say that if you have an option of watching either ghajini or Rab.... , then go for Ghajini
atleast it makes sense unlike Rab... where the actress fails to recognize the two different looks of her husband.
Ghajini on a scale of 1 to 5 will score 3 1/2.

MAXIMUM CITY --- Mumbai Lost & found

The first thing that attracted me towards this book was the cover page.
Just by looking at it I knew it is going to be a good book.
It is a must read for all Mumbai people , if you think that you know Mumbai then read this book you will know how little you know about Mumbai.
The writer has put in a lot of efforts in writing this book while doing his research work.

it is kind of an eye opener on issues like the 1993 riots, involvement of sanjay dutt in it, the way the riots took place, how blasts were planned ? how the gangsters work? how police works?
It must have required a lot of guts on his part to write things about Bal Thackrey and directly pinpointing him as the main person responsible for the riots.
One of the most interesting part is that of the life in slum.
Although I would say that he only wrote things which would attract people in reading about life in slum and mainly concentrated on how each one of them is hitting on someone else's wife,
sister,sister in law etc...
I would have been happier has he mentioned about how people stay connected to each other in slums, chawls, care for each other, celebrate in good times and mourn in bad times with each other.
I think he lacked there.
Story on vada-pav is also good.
Another interesting part is on the life of the bar girls, in this part I would say he really
put in more hardwork in reasearch on bar girls, I dont know why he had so much interest in it ,at times I found that he is dragging it a little too much.
In the end he also mentions about his school ,years spent there ,his friendship with director/producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra. His association with him during the making of
Mission Kashmir.
That part again was not needed, I mean who is interested in knowing what you did in your school,
when you are writing the book on Mumbai .
I would say that he probably missed one very important thing about mumbai which is it's lifeline
that is the local trains.
He should have written something about the local trains, how people talk in trains ? what is the main point of their discussion ? The daily spats in train etc....
Although it is a good effort and he even succeeds in opening the eye's of the readers , but I would still say that it lacked a lot of things about Mumbai.
I would still recommend it to everyone who wants to know what has happend in Mumbai over
the years.
It will be kind of Mumbai revisited for you.
On a scale of 1 to 5 I would rate it a good 4.
