RAAJNEETI

I am so thankful to Prakash Jha for making this movie, the reason being that it has helped me so much to come out of the misery of kites.
After a long time there's a movie with such a nicely woven storyline, dialouges with so much impact, characters that you can connect to, the background score which is a perfect match for such a story and above all the value for your money.
I must say that Prakash Jha has done a really commendable job in bringing together the characters of Mahabharata in today's time and what better way to show it all through the dirty indian poltics.
At this point in time I must compare the two filmmakers in current time who believe in making realistic movies on various issues.
First one being Prakash Jha(Gangajal,Apharan etc...) and then Madhur Bhandarkar(chandne bar, Page 3, fashion).
What puts Prakash Jha a notch above madhur Bhandarakar is that with Prakash's movies people connect far better than Madhur's movies and the reason behind that Prakash's movies are far more easier to understand.
Within the first 5 minutes of watching the movie I knew that I am not mistaken by going for this movie.
The thing that I liked most was that even though I knew what is going to happen next
(because of my familiarity to Mahabharata) the story and the charater portrayl had the ability to make me tied down to my seat for almost three hours.
The way Ranbir Kapoor has acted ,it shows that acting runs through his blood.
He has completly overshadowed every other actor in this movie.
What you would like is that he has acted through his face , just by looking at his facial expression you can figure out what he is thinking and is going to happen next, you can't help but just get awed by him.
Although I felt that Ajay Devgan had nothing much to do but he again justifies the role of a new age Karna, another thing about him is that these kind of roles are the one which belongs to his domain and suits his appearance on the screen, I have said it time and again that he is the only few actors who can act just through their eyes, he just doesn't need a dialogue for so many scenes.
I do feel that Katrina's role was not justified or I would say that the hype that was created regarding her role did not fulfill my expectations as there are very few scenes with her in the frame.
Nana patekar, plays the role of 'solution provider' Krishna with so much sincerity and ease that only a seasoned actor like him can do.
Arjun Rampal has definately improved as an actor and what impresses him is his screen presence, the appearance that you can't ignore.Althogh it was evident that he found all those 'theth' hindi lines difficult to say.
As for Manoj Bajpai it was a tailor made role for him and he has made full justification to it.
I have said a lot of goody-goody now some letdowns.
A few of the scenes and the dialogues looked ridicules which could have been the strongest scenes like the scene where Ranbir(Ajay's as well) goes to meet Ajay Devgan, the scene in which Arjun Rampal and Ranbir's girlfriend Dies, I couldn't find the grief that someone goes through when their loved one's are murdered.
Another scene where Ranbir shoots Ajay Devgan, I dint find the emotion/anger that Arjun in Mahabharta had towards Karna/Duryodhana for killing them.
I am mentioning these few scenes which should have been the one what I call
'Movie-maker/movie-breaker' scenes.
With all these UP's and a few Down's it's a must watch and it deservs a ****.
